Texas Must See Date Night Spots- Summer 2022

Hello readers!! I know, I know, it’s been awhile and I am sorry.

I was transitioning out my current role as a school counselor into full time entrepreneurship  in my private practice.

But I am back and excited to share some date ideas- The Texas Edition.

Despite the media, there really are some great things happening here still, so rather you are traveling or live locally, I am going to share four date ideas for each of the following cities: Dallas, Houston, Austin and San Antonio.

First up Austin : first recommendation is to stay at The Retreat on The Hill if you are a returning reader then you know how much I promote staycations (for my locals) and if you are traveling definitely recommend staying here.

Here’s why : The star dome suite comes with a telescope to stargaze, an outdoor bathtub , ac/ heat, games, snacks, a private dock with a fire pit and comfortable chairs, a comfortable bed and the best part is the views! If you are coming to the area or live here, definitely an ideal spot for a romantic get away.

If you are anything like me and enjoy being surrounded by a body of water, you will love Barton Springs Spillway so grab some friends, a floating device, lawn chairs or hammocks (ya know whatever your thing is) drinks and snacks and enjoy a day next to the water.

Who loves to hike and see waterfalls! Listen same, same, if you are in the Austin Area check out Mckinney State Falls. It is a beautiful state park with lots of little hiking trails and beautiful waterfalls. A fan favorite is the Lower Falls so be sure to check that one out first if you are pressed with time.

I mean let’s face it, we know Texas is hot! So there is nothing better than sitting poolside with a cocktail in hand. Add in a spa day and that’s my ideal date. Check out Lakeway Resort and Spa offers a distinct getaway right in the heart of Lake Travis.

Next Up San Antonio

I know I mentioned it before but I really do love being near the water. And what better way to experience that than tubing. So my first date idea is Tube the Comal River. Did you know Tubing is a Texas rite of passage? Lol yeah me either but it is something that I have been dying to do. The cool waters of this river are ideal for a hot summer day. So gather up your love and other couples, make it a day full of fun, cool beverages and vibes.

Are you looking to do something different when visiting the San Antonio area, try Kayaking the San Antonio River. Mission Kayak provides guided and unguided kayak rentals. The bonus part is you have the opportunity to paddle down the infamous River Walk. Making this a memorable date.

Yall know I am all for music and dancing! It honestly just makes life better. If you are in the San Antonio area check out Historic Pearls Summer Block Parties. Enjoy a night of dancing, local food and even ice cream, to help you stay cool every Thursday night this summer.

And I mean let’s face it you can’t visit San Antonio without visiting the infamous River walk, but if you are looking for a unique dining experience I recommend checking out Enirque Tomas Riverwalk, which is a contemporary cuisine restaurant that brings Spain to San Antonio. Making this restaurant a must dine experience.

Next up Houston:

I had to start this one off right with a brunch recommendation, because let’s face it when we think of Houston, good food usually comes to mind. Houston Grooves their brunch will not disappoint. Some fan favorites are : mimosa tower, mimosa flight, red velvet chicken and waffles, groovy grits and fried catfish, grooves wings basket and creole crawfish. Brunch is every Saturday at 11 – 5 pm and for those hookah lovers, it is available as well.

If you know, then you know, hunny I live for an upscale date night location. Guard and Grace Houston is the perfect spot for an upscale dinner with bae. It is a modern steakhouse nestled in the heart of downtown Houston. As expected they have amazing steak offerings as well as fresh seafood, charcuterie boards and crafted cocktails. Again perfect date night spot.

Have I ever shared with you all how much I love the city of Galveston? For those who are like me, I discovered a luxury hotel that makes you feel like you are away when really you aren’t lol. The San Luis Resort offers a resort style pool that stays open until 2 am and did I mention a swim up bar? Enjoy great food on site such as : The Steakhouse, Grotto, Blake’s Bistro, and Cup and Cone. They also have a spa and private villas. This is a must stay for a quick romantic getaway.

I’m going to end the Houston date ideas with Brunch at Kamp Houston. If you are anything like me I enjoy a good vibe, with great music and food. If that’s your idea of a great date definitely check out Kamp Houston.

Dallas:

First up we have Lava Cantina for a Sunday funday outing. Enjoy live music from 2 bands,3 dj’s , 2 levels including an indoor and outdoor venue. Perfect for when you are searching for an opportunity to get dressed, enjoy drinks and music with your favorite forever plus one.

If you are looking for a casual yet fun night out visit Federales. Known for their infamous “ring the bell station”, Federales is a casual but upbeat dining spot. They are a Chicago based restaurant known for their massive tacos selection and tequila serving you in an industrial theme styled restaurant.

Looking for a speakeasy? Need a nice night cap to your date night, check Magnum hidden inside of Hotel Vin, It is an intimate 18 seater spot. To enter you have to use a retro phone booth, listen to the message and wait for access to enter. Inside you will find the atmosphere is dimly lit with candles  and serving you up a variety of forbidden cocktails. Again a perfect way to end your evening before heading home.

Who doesn’t love a free concert? Checkout the Vitruvian Park free concerts( check website for dates) bring your lawn chairs, water, drinks and enjoy the free concerts. In addition to live music, I also enjoy food trucks, lawn games and a variety of other entertainment. Perfect way to spice up your traditional date nights and it is free!

Bonus date idea: Let’s talk about Dakota’s Steakhouse. Did I mention that it is underground too? Making it the perfect intimate and romantic dining experience. (my best friend got engaged there a few years ago) so it is definitely an impressive date night spot.
